Problem
A user has two elements with two different Part assignments each with a different Definition level but the same Drawing Symbology levels as shown in the images below.
The Level symbology assigned by default are as shown.
A section has been generated like this:
He would like to control the visibility of the two elements independently, but if level A-WALL is turned off from Level Display dialog, both of the walls disappear.
For V8i:
When using Level Display one can’t control the visibility of one element independently of another when they’re on the same level. Instead, the Parts need to use separate Cut Plane and Forward View levels so that they can be displayed independently.
The following changes were made using Dataset Explorer:
Now when deselecting one of these Levels from Level Display, only one element disappears:
Thus one can selectively control Level display in Drawing Views.
For CONNECT:
Selective control of display of elements in Drawing/Saved View can be achieved in AECOsim CONNECT using Display Rules.
For the same set of walls, a section has been generated like this:
Now follow the instructions as below:
a) Open ‘Display Style’ List. Then select ‘Open Display Styles Dialog’
b)Select the ‘Edit’ option under Display rules. The ‘Display Rules’ dialogue will emerge.
c)Create a ‘New Display Rule Set’ and a ‘New Display Rule’. Click to edit the condition.
d)The ‘Condition Editor’ dialogue box appears. Select ‘Pick property’>ELEMENT>Wall>Properties>Part.
e)Type the part whose visibility you want to control. Here this is set as “Brick”.
f) Under ‘Actions’ column in the ‘Display Rules’ dialogue box, click on the plus sign and select ‘Hide Element’ from the dropdown. The final Display Rule looks like this:
g) Now for a view, say ‘Forward View’, select this particular ‘Display Rule’ and refresh the view.
The Brick wall disappears in the Drawing View.
