Problem

Is there any way to manually apply a hatch and fill to a drawing's Cut Plane elements?  I am using AECOsim Building Designer SELECTseries6 and have found that adding feature cuts to a solid may prevent the assigned Family + Part from displaying its expected fill and hatch.  I cannot upgraded to CONNECT Edition at this time since I need to complete my current project using V8i SELECTseries6.

Solution

In SELECTseries6, solids with feature cuts may cause that element's cut plane geometry to not display within the Drawing, and would therefore be missing any Part generated hatch/fill resymbolization that fall along the Cut Plane.  This issue was logged as defect 157307 and has since been resolved in AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition.  However, as an interim solution you can manually apply a hatch and fill as outlined in the video further below, using these basic steps:

1. Check the Hatch and Fill settings for the desired Part.

2. Navigate to the Drawing Model, and apply an applicable Hatch to that element using the Flood method with Locate Interiors checked on.

3. Right-click on that resulting Hatch shape to open the MicroStation Properties dialog.

4. Click on the Fill drop-down, un-check the Disable Fill toggle, select the desired color and click OK.

The results should be viewable in both the Drawing Model and when the Saved View is applied within the 3D Model.
