I draw a 2D circle and add ‘By Element’ constraint for the pile diameter, and then I extruded it to create a ‘Parametric Solid’. Then this solid was copied 3 more times and a ‘Distance’ constraint added for the pile centerlines.
Now I am trying to manipulate the pile diameter and spacing individually but I am looking for a way of updating on bulk. Is there any way to achieve this?
At the beginning stage the Parametric tool is ideal. You can create a pile whose diameter/ radius and the depth are controlled by the variables.
Use the Ribbon > Modeling > Solids > Modify Features > Manipulate Features split button > Array Parametric Solid Feature tool to replicate the piles.
The array angle, spacing and number of rows/ columns can be controlled by Variables.
The edit handles are available for direct manipulation of the array. The limitation of this approach is that the diameter/ radius or depth of individual instances in the array can not be modified.
Once the pipe grid is fixed the pile tools available in AECOsim structural ribbon may be more flexible, these allow reposting on and modification of individual or selection of piles via the Schedules dialog.
If you can’t find the pile tool, use the search option at the top right. There you will get the combo button with all other column tools.
The illustration below is a deeply simplified parametric façade (proof of concept only!) where the source is a chunk of wall containing an opening, all the dimensions are controlled by parameters, arrayed using the Array Parametric Solid Feature Tool.
