Problem Description:
How does the "Map DataGroup Types and Properties to IFC" dialog work? When the dialog is opened, all of the Mapped IFC Properties are blank and have nothing in the drop down lists for each IFC Property.
Steps to Resolve:
To be able to populate the drop down lists in the IFC DataGroup "Mapped IFC Properties" you need to enable COBIE Extensions. The properties are taken from files in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\DatasetExtensions\IFC2x3_psets\psd\ .1. Open Workspace > Configuration dialog.2. Scroll through the list of configuration variables on the right side of the dialog box to IFC_PROJECT. By default, the variable is set to 0, but it has to be defined = 2. Most likely you can't edit it in the Configuration dialog box because it has an L next to Project, meaning it is locked. So, you will need to go into your project .pcf file where this variable is defined, to edit IFC_PROJECT = 2.It is defined in your project, for instance, BuildingTemplate_US.pcf because that is the project that was selected when opening the model. Yours may differ depending on which Project you have selected when you first open a file.
This should give you all the properties you want to see when you export the file to IFC and open it in a different program, but if a property does not exist in the Mapped IFC Properties column, that means it does not exist in IFC.
[Note that this problem should not arise in OpenBuildings Designer, mapping is populated regardless of the value of IFC_WORKSET (the equivalent of V8i's IFC_PROJECT).]
