    Editing Catalog Item value lists

Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer (and AECOsim Building Designer)
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition and V8i
      Environment: N/A
      Area: DataGroup System
      Subarea: DataGroup Catalog Editor

    Problem Description

How do I edit the value lists in Catalog Item properties?

    Steps to resolve

The property lists can be populated from two places.

Initially via the Definition Editor, where a list can be pre-populated (1) and the choice can be made to have either a fixed list or by checking the Extendable option (2) to allow users to enter their own values:

When a tool is used these values will be listed (1), a user's previously entered values will also be available (2) and others may also be entered by a user (3).

The user's values are stored in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenBuildingsDesigner\10.0.0\prefs\MRU_Lookups.xml

The ENUM List can be modified for any chosen property by adding and XML file containing appropriate content in the DataGroupSystem folder at WorkSpace or WorkSet levels (or if it exists, Organization level). Any values in the WorkSet will override those in WorkSpace, either override the values in the delivered dataset. One way to do this is to copy and edit appropriate content from a delivered ENUM XML file, e.g. C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Datasets\Dataset_US\DataGroupSystem\EnumLookups_Architectural.xml, saving it into a new XML file in the appropriate DataGroupSystem folder:

Having done this, the user MRU value is present (1) and the values from the custom ENUM list override those from the delivered dataset (2):
