Certain annotation does not update after changing DataGroup properties

      Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Annotation
      Subarea: DataGroup

    Problem

We've recently noticed that after changing DataGroup property values for specific elements in our 3D model, the associated rule based annotation in the Drawing Model simply will not update to reflect those changes.  It's as though the annotation cells are no longer linked to their respective elements.  If we delete the existing annotation and allow new versions to be generated sometimes the annotation will reflect those property changes, but if we place new instances of those same components in the 3D model then the associated annotation always works as expected.

    Solution

It was discovered that certain elements in the 3D model were modified using AECOsim Building Designer V8i and then brought back into CONNECT Edition for further work.  Moving back and forth between CONNECT Edition and V8i can impact the integrity of native AECOsim components, most noticeably DataGroup instance data.   While it's acceptable to move forward, the data is not backwards compatible due to schema changes and updates in newer versions. So the results can behave in an unpredictable fashion if modified in older versions and then again in newer versions.  Therefore it is recommended that you avoid modifying DataGroup instance data in V8i if that data was created in and intended for CONNECT Edition.
