    Repair/Modify/Uninstall OpenBuildings Designer/Add Datasets

      Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Installation
      Subarea: Modify/Uninstall/Repair

There are times when OpenBuildings Designer may need to repaired or perhaps a component that was not initially installed may need to be added, an additional regional dataset for instance. Initiating any of the Repair/Modify/Uninstall options will run the installer.

    • Repair reruns the installer in an automatic mode where it checks and repairs ab existing installation.
    • Modify will run the Installer UI offering the dialogs where changes can be made. These will be the the Features and Datasets pages.
    • Uninstall will simply prompt for confirmation to proceed with uninstallation.

    Modify/Uninstall

Previously AECOsim Building Designer V8i could be repaired or modified from "Program and Features" in Control Panel. Changes to the Windows Installer used by CONNECT Edition products mean that the repair option is no longer available from either the Control Panel > Programs and Features or from Windows 10's Apps & features settings. Both now offer only Modify or Uninstall:

Repair (Modify and Uninstall options are also available via this route)

The repair option is available directly from the installer files by running the setup file for OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT, to do this:

    1. Find the location where Setup_OpenBuildingsDesignerx64_10.xx.00.0xx.xxx.exe file is located. This will be in a location similar to: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{950da145-af69-43cc-9c23-aee23a6a9664}; the folder name inside the curly brackets will vary for each version.
    2. Run the setup/installer file by double-clicking it.
    3. Select Repair option:
    4. Follow the dialogs and select the appropriate choices.
