    Parametric Sections

This new feature gives the user the ability to add rectangular and solid round sections parametrically to the section manager. This ability does away with the need to manually edit the xml files for the new sections.
To add rectangular sections, open the linear member placement tool and in the section name field enter the section dimensions to be created in the following format: "X". For example, "123X124" for a rectangular section of width 123 sub-units and height 124 sub-units.

Adding Parametric Rectangular Sections Using Placement Tool

If a rectangular section of similar dimensions is already present in the section than that section will be used else a new section is added. The following dialog box open up for specifying the section name.

Dialogbox to set the section name

For solid round section, open the placement tool and enter the diameter in sub-units. For example to add a solid round section of diameter 23.5 sub-units enter "23.5".

Adding Parametric Solid Round Sections using Placement Tool

The user is then prompted for a section name if there is no solid round section already present in the section manager with the same diameter.

Note: This feature is available from Structural Modeler version 8.11.07.66 onwards.
