Guides - Bentley Facilities Space Planner

Bentley Facilities Planner is an application for managing facilities in all types of organizations. It provides tools that enable a facilities manager to keep track of people, documents, furniture, equipment, and so on, in any/all sites leased or owned by an organization.

Bentley Facilities Planner uses MicroStation (or MicroStation PowerDraft) as a user-interface and to display graphics, and uses ProjectWise for the storage of all design files and documents. The tight relationship between Bentley Facilities Planner and ProjectWise ensures reliable retrieval of reference information, linked documents and area information.

All asset and attribute data is stored in a ProjectWise database, and is referred to generally as the Facilities Management Model or FM Model. The only information stored permanently in design files is the graphic elements relating to area perimeters. When a graphical representation of assets is required, it is generated on the fly directly from the information in the database.

Note: To use Bentley Facilities Planner you should be familiar with 2D design and 3D viewing concepts as covered in the MicroStation (or MicroStation PowerDraft) documentation. For more information, choose Help > Contents. No prior ProjectWise experience is necessary, although a familiarity with ProjectWise documents and folders is certainly helpful.
