To Create a Deduction Area in Planner
From the Planner menu, choose Area > Create.
The Create Area wizard opens.
From the list box, select Deduction Area and click Next.
The Modify Instance Deduction Area screen opens.
Click Next.
The Attach/Detach Shapes screen opens.
In the design file, identify the closed shape you want to deduct, then in the wizard, click Next.
The area is created and the Calculation screen opens.
Do one of the following:
At this point, if you are finished, click Finished.
or
To make more changes, click Next.
The area is created and the Calculation screen displays. The Generalized deduction option is not available since you are already creating a deduction area.
Do one of the following:
At this point, if you are finished, click Finish.
or
To link the area to other objects, click Next.
The Connections screen opens.
(Optional) At the top right section of the wizard, click the Browse button and select an area classification from the Classification window.
This step is only necessary, or possible, if the area you are creating is a room. (For more information, see To classify an area.)
To search for items to link to the instance, click Find or Navigate.
Once you find the object you want to link to the instance, drag and drop the object into the Objects list box.
When you are finished linking objects, click Finish.
The properties of the area enclosing the deduction area have been modified and its net area reduced by the value of the deduction area.
