When you create an area, the area and perimeter of that area are stored in the database. If you subsequently amend that area graphically, its area and perimeter may change in the design file. The Update Areas tool updates the database record to reflect these changes. It updates all areas in the current design file. When you close a design file after such modifications Bentley Facilities Planner prompts you to update the areas.
