1.I have a .dat file & a .txt file from Prosteel/Prostructures, how to import and map them in AECOsim. 2.Do SDNF files support steel members which are cut? Or only steel members with their original shape and length?. 3.If you want to exchange between Structural Modeler and ProStructures / ProSteel you should try ISM. It should work much better than SDNF.
1.Things you need to have in order to import SDNF in AECOsim/ OpenBuildingsDesigner CONNECT Edition
-A .txt & a .dat file from Prosteel/Prostructures
-Check Analytical Features on in case you don’t see structural import/export tab in AECOsim v8i
-Then go to Files>Import/Export>SDNF
In V8i:
In CONNECT:
-Choose Family/Part in Linear Packet
- Choose Family/Part in Plate Packet
-Manually select corresponding sections not matching AECOsim catalog/ create separate catalog for each unidentified items in your mapping file.
2.Structural only supports packet 10 (members) and packet 20 (plates) and packet 60 (curved members). We will only import and export a cutback length. For example, if a member in structural has a cope, the maximum cutback length will be calculated and a single uniform cutback length will be exported.3.a.SDNF the file out from Structural modeler
b.Name change from *.dat to *.sdf and import
c.Then expect that the member would be imported into the Prostructures program the same as they were entered into the Structural model.Note: The correct ECS positioning and orientation rotation etc. is to be maintained while modelling
