Moving Assets Graphically And Non-graphically, Using The Move Wizard

Using the Move Wizard you can move employees and the assets linked to them, or the contents of selected rooms, in a single action. You can move these assets individually, or by creating selection sets of employees or rooms. You can choose to move the assets graphically, or non-graphically using a container.

The Move Wizard traces all the objects which are linked to the selected employee(s) or contained within the selected room(s) and allows you to decide which objects should be included in the move and which should be left behind. Any move restrictions which apply to objects included in the selection still apply and immovable objects remain in their existing locations.

Some of the objects included in the move may themselves be linked to other objects. An employee's PC for instance may be linked to a printer which is not included in the move. The Move Wizard traces these links and allows you to decide whether to retain or remove them.

You can also move the assets linked to an employee or a number of employees non-graphically. The assets are packed into a container located at the destination. When you move one or more employees, the assets linked to the employee are packed into a container located at the destination. If containers already exist at the chosen destination, you can either select one of these as the destination container, or create a new one.

You can also move the contents of rooms non-graphically.The contents of the room are packed into a container located at the destination. When you move the contents of a room, the assets are packed into a container located at the destination. If containers already exist at the chosen destination, you can either select one of these as the destination container,or elect to create a new one.

Note: When the container containing the assets has been moved to its destination, you can then go to the location of the container and unpack its contents. For more information, see Unpacking Containers.
