Sending, Moving or Archiving Project Data

      Product(s): OpenBuildings Energy Simulator
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Environment: N/A
      Area: General Information
      Subarea: N/A

    Overview

This article shows what data is needed to send or move your project data.

The CAD model geometry of each project is saved as a DGN file. However if sending/copying the entire project then the encompassing WorkSet folder is required, as this contains the data files associated with the project, such as Weather locations and Construction types.

    Method

For a single project, you can retrieve the WorkSet as follows:

    1. Exit OpenBuildings Energy Simulator

    2. Use file explorer to navigate to your Worksets folder. Should you be unsure of the exact location of your Workset folder, then the path will be listed when you open OpenBuildings Energy Simulator as in example below. You can right click as below to Browse to the location.

    3. This will take to you to the encompassing Workset folder:

    4. Navigating up will bring you to the Workset folder itself. (This will contain at a minimum the Designs, Output and Standards folders - these are all required).

    5. Browse to the Workset folder, and copy/zip this using Windows zipping tools, or you may wish to use other 3rd party software such as WinZip or 7zip.

Alternatively, for several projects, you can retrieve the associated Workspace as follows:

    1. As above, navigate to the project location.

    2. Navigate up to find the encompassing Workspace folder:

    3. The folder required in this instance is the "Energy Simulator Projects" folder. Copy/zip this, along with the related configuration file:

Following this, if you have received Workset files and wish to open them on your machine please find guidance here.

For more guidance on Workspace and Workset folder structure see this article.
