    Installing the Radiance engine for Daylight Simulation

    Overview

    The Daylighting simulations in OpenBuildings Energy Simulator utilise the lighting simulation engine, Radiance.

    Method

    Radiance is non-Bentley software so should you need to download a copy, it can be obtained from the Radiance website:

    https://www.radiance-online.org/download-install

    1. Select Radiance Installers:


    2. Click on link provided:


    3. This will bring you to the downloads, with each version listed. The most recent version should be fine. The install is found in Assets:


    4. Select the Windows installation, eg:


    5. Once downloaded, double-click on the exe to install. Please ensure OpenBuildings is closed before doing so.

    Proceed though the installation, leaving all settings as default. 

    Once complete you can run Daylighting Simulations to analyse daylight factors, or daylight visualisation.
