Remove All Building Data - TFREMOVE

Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer (and AECOsim Building Designer)
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition and V8i
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Datagroup System
      Subarea: Instance Data

    Overview

TFREMOVE is a keyin that can be used in CONNECT Edition and V8i to remove ALL building element and data properties attributes.

While it will remove Instance Data for selections it will also remove any Family & Part assignments and drop TriForma forms to MicroStation elements, generally to cells.

TFREMOVE could be used to remove Instance Data from MicroStation elements without changing the elements themselves, for instance using it on an ABD Wall would drop the wall to a MicroStation solid

    Method

The method is the same for CONNECT Edition and V8i.

Select the elements to remove data from the key-in TFREMOVE and accept with a datapoint.

    Or

key-in TFREMOVE and identify the target element, accept with a datapoint.

Note the very clear message shown in the Tool Settings dialog and in the Status Bar!

Can I reverse the effect of TFREMOVE?

No, it is a one way process, once the building application data is removed is cannot be recreated. Instance Data can be reapplied to the geometry to enable scheduling but any relationships between Catalog Properties and the object cannot be recreated.

Tip: Convert dropped building objects to SmartSolids

Applying TFREMOVE generally results in a cell element called TFVISBL.

For further manipulation of the cell it can be converted to a SmartSolid (assuming that the geometry is appropriate to be converted to a SmartSolid) by following this sequence:

    • Use Drop Element, set only to Complex, on the faulty objects
    • This reduces it to individual faces
    • Select all of the resulting faces
    • Apply the Stitch Surface tool (note two clicks to accept, watch the prompts in the status bar)
    • Result is a SmartSolid.

If appropriate apply Instance Data to the resulting element.
