Beginning with CONNECT Edition Update 7, OpenBuildings Designer enhances ProStructures interoperability by allowing the placement and modification of native ProSteel beams, columns and plates, as well as assemblies such as trusses, bar joists and joist girders. Existing ("legacy") OpenBuildings Designer structural members may be upgraded to native ProStructures elements at any time. In addition, you can choose whether to place legacy or ProSteel beams and columns using the configuration variable BB_STRUCTURAL_LEGACY_ENABLE.
For example, here are the traditional beam and column placement dialog boxes, along with their new ProStructures equivalents:
