"Unable to launch OLE-Server 'BBES.OLE'" error

      Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Area: Electrical Annotation and Design
      Subarea: BBES Server

    Problem

When I click on the Load Electrical icon I get the error message “Unable to launch Ole-Server - BBES.OLE". I've found that if I reinstall the software the error message no longer occurs, but then a few days later it will come back. I've checked folder permissions and tried using the Run As Administrator option, but the cycle continues.

    Solution

The user was running CCleaner on their machine once a week, which was removing the required registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\BBES.OLE. Adding this line to CCleaner prevented the error from reoccuring: "ExcludeKey3=REG| HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\BBES.OLE"
