If there are ACIS bodies present in a DGN file or cell library, performance may be extremely slow while opening the file or trying to attach the same using the 'Place Active Cell' option. The reason being that native ACIS solids are no longer supported in OpenBuildings Designer or MicroStation and instead are converted to Parasolid bodies on-the-fly.
Proactively converting these ACIS bodies to native Parasolid bodies can help performance by removing the need for the on-the-fly conversion each time the file is opened or cell is placed. 1. Go to Tools in the backstage and click on Batch Process
2. Create a new command file with .txt as an extension.
3. In the .txt file add the key-in "convert acistoparasolid all" and click on the save button before closing it.4. Select Add Files or Directories to Process
5. Select the desired DGN or CEL file. In this example, 'ArchPat.cel' is selected.6. The Process Tasks window shows your selected cell library, but you can always attach more DGN or CEL files from the Add Files or Directories to Process command (ref to point 4) and change the type of model from the Initial model chosen.7. Now click on the button 'Process Batch Process Job' to start the conversion. Please see attached video for the steps
