Bentley Facilities Space Planner Crash after Area Modifications

Product(s):Bentley Facilities Space Planner
Version(s):CONNECT Edition
Environment:Windows 10
Area:Shapes / Spaces
Subarea:N\A

Problem Description

After modifying Areas an Update Areas dialog opens and starts area update procedure, but during the Overlap check it crashes the application.

Possible Cause

During the investigation was noticed that one area were created using Associative Region area shape. Bentley Facilities Space Planner requires a closed shapes for areas creation otherwise Bentley Facilities cannot determine the area and automatic linking rules will fail as well.

A shape in a design file can either be a simple geometric element (like a circle or rectangle) or a complex shape. It is important that the shape defining the space is a closed element. Only that way will Bentley Facilities be able to calculate the area and perimeter of space that is defined by your shape.

Solution

Open area modification dialog, detach this shape

and attach correct closed shape created using standard Microstation drawing tools like smart line, rectangle etc.

After accepting to modify the area with this new shape, update areas and verify that procedure is running fine.
