Scan References and Link Sets Tool in ProjectWise Explorer

    Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer
    Area: ProjectWise Integration tool
Subarea: Scan References and Link Sets Tool

    Background

When documents are initially imported into ProjectWise, any existing physical relationships between the imported documents are kept, but the relationships are not yet recognized or managed by ProjectWise. To establish these relationships in ProjectWise, you need to scan the contents of the imported folders and files using the Scan for Reference Files and Link Sets wizard (Tools > Scan References and Link Sets) in ProjectWise Explorer.

You can run the Scan for Reference Files and Link Sets wizards as often as needed. The Scan for Reference Files and Link Sets wizard supports live nesting of references in both MicroStation and AutoCAD. For each master file detected during the scanning process, the file's nest depth is also obtained and stored in the ProjectWise database.

Before you begin using the Scan for Reference Files and Link Sets wizard, make sure that:

    • You are either an administrator or a user with write permissions.
    • All the files you want to scan (master and reference files, and/or link set files) have already been imported into ProjectWise.

    Steps To Accomplish-

    1. Open ProjectWise Explorer and click on Tools menu, and click on Scan references and link sets

    2. Click Next into the welcome dialogue and in the next wizard check all options and proceed further.

    3. In the next wizard select the DGN files or one Specific folder the required DGN files. These are the DGN files for which we need to scan references.

    4. Now select the power platform application of both Main DGN and reference DGN files

    5. Select the folders in which to look for references files.

    6. If proximity search is enabled PW explorer will scan for references from the folder of main DGN also.

Specify the log file name if needed and proceed further.

    7. Click on Scan. The scanning process will start. Review the results and close the wizard.
