Users might see the "Err" reported in the table of solar gains as below:

Method

Errors like these are not expected usually, but can arise because of missing material construction properties. This issue generally occurs if the model has been opened in an unrelated Workset - i.e. one which does not have the same construction types in it.

Fundamental factors or constants for the fabrics are sometimes not considered and that creates a malfunction in the calculation. See below:

In this example, this results in an invalid fabric gain of "NaN":

To avoid this issue, users should create a new Workset for each project and ensure not to subsequently open the model in different Worksets.

Users might see the word error sometimes in the table of solar gains like below:

Errors like these are not expected usually, but situations like these do trigger because of the fabrics applied in materials not working properly. Fundamental factors or constants for the fabrics are sometimes not considered and that create a malfunction in the calculation. See below:

Due to this, the fabric gain also comes malicious and it does not show any result there.

This issue generally occurs if user is working on a project by not creating a proper workset-workspace folder system or working on a shared server with multiple projects in a common workset. To understand folder structure of workset and workspace, refer to this link here.

To avoid these, users should create a separate workset and workspace for the project and then associate the existing project with the new folder structure by placing the DGN files in the design folder and replacing the new folders with existing standard and output folder.

After that, running CIBSE heat gain calculation would produce standard solar heat gains and fabric loads as expected.
