    Creating a Grid Template to Maintain Drawing Standards

      Product: OpenBuildings Designer
      Version: CONNECT Edition
      Area: Grid Systems
    SubArea: Templates

    The Situation

    How can I create my own Grid Template DgnLib so that I can maintain our company drawing standards?

    Solution

    Create a new GridTemplate.dgnlib and save it to the WorkSpace or WorkSet, then reassign the BB_GRID_TEMPLATE_DGNLIB configuration variable.

    Grid Templates control the symbology of grids created using the Grid System Manager.  They are Element Templates that are stored in a delivered DgnLib.  This DgnLib can be copied to a WorkSpace or WorkSet, and then the Grid Template can be modified to match company or project standards. Once this is done, the configuration variable  BB_GRID_TEMPLATE_DGNLIB must be reassigned to point to the new location.

    Steps:

    1. Open the GridTemplate.dgnlib in the delivered Dataset_XX.
    2. Use Save As to save a duplicate copy to either the Workspace or WorkSet Standards/Dgnlib folder.
    3. Open the new DgnLib and modify the Element Template.
    4. Open the WorkSpace or WorkSet configuration file and add the variable and appropriate path as shown below:

    BB_GRID_TEMPLATE_DGNLIB = $(_USTN_WORKSETSTANDARDS)dgnlib/GridTemplate.dgnlib

    BB_GRID_TEMPLATE_DGNLIB = $(_USTN_WORKSPACESTANDARDS)dgnlib/GridTemplate.dgnlib

    The new Grid Template will now be available in both the Floor Manager and the Grid Systems Manager under Settings.
