    Empty Floor Selector with old Floormaster.dgnlib file even after Schema Upgrade

      Product(s): OpenBuildings Building Designer
      Version(s):

    CONNECT Edition

    Area:

    Floor Management

    Problem

    I have been unable to get an old V8i Floormaster.dgnlib to properly display its floors in CONNECT Edition. I tried using the DataGroup Schema Upgrade utility in both AECOsim Building Designer V8i Ss6 and OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition Update 8, but I still see a blank white box when I expand Floor Selector or launch Floor Manager.

    Solution

    The problem with this Floormaster.dgnlib file is that it is missing DataGroup properties for both Project and Site. A delivered Floormaster file will include linear elements (zero length lines) that are assigned Project, Site and Building DataGroup properties, along with shapes that are assigned Floor properties.

    However, this file only includes a single point element with Building DataGroup instance data assigned along with its two Floor shapes.

    It is believed that this Floormaster.dgnlib file predates the Project > Site > Building > Floor hierarchy that has existed since early versions of AECOsim Building Designer V8i.

    While it is possible to manually place two point elements and assign Project and Site instance data, this will not generate the required Project > Site > Building > Floor hierarchy. In order to properly update this Floormaster.dgnlib file the DataGroup Upgrade Utility was run using AECOsim Building Designer V8i Ss4 so that the Project and Site properties were created and linked.
