    Problem Description

I want to place an element annotation for e.g. a wall opening in a Views. Doing this I receive the message: "ERROR !!! Unable to find active cell". Now I have to create a new annotation cell.

How to create a new annotation cell for any existing DataGroup elements?

    Steps to Accomplish

Please follow the below steps through which you can annotate any DG element (in this case we have used a beam).

    1. At first, go to your Drawing tab and then from the Element Annotation dropdown select the “Manage Annotation Cells” tool.

    1. Then after opening the Manage Annotation Cells dialog box you will have to select the “Create New Cell Model” option.

    1. After selecting the Create New Cell Model you will have to create a new cell with the required parameters and hit on OK.

    1. After creating the new cell, you will have to select the DataGroup type of the element which you want to annotate along with its DataGroup information (like in this case Section Name is used)
Then select Place Text and place the text. Then hit on Close button.

    1. Then go to your Annotation Tool Settings and select the Beam | Steel.

    1. After selecting Beam | Steel you will need to select the Cell that you are going to use and then hit on Apply button.

    1. Finally, when you will annotate that beam using Element Annotation tool you will notice that the Section Name is displayed.
