    Using the "By Polygon Points" option for creating openings in structural members

    Product(s):

    OpenBuildings Designer

    Version(s):

    CONNECT Edition

    Area:

     Structural Design

    Background

    This wiki will cover the creation of openings in structural members using the Cut Openings tool > By Polygon Points option.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. With the Cut Openings tool selected, in the Cut Opening Options toolbox select By Polygon Points.

    2. Select the Structural Element and then align the ACS to the required plane.

    3. It will be observed that the ACS plane is set as required. Now, draw a closed shape as per requirement.

    4. The cut will be seen on the Structural member along the edges of the drawn shape.

    5. Clicking on the edge of the cut will make the cutting shape visible with edit handles (marked with a yellow circle).

        You can select the edit handles and change the perimeter of the shape as required.
