In some cases, it generally happens that some file from the previous installation is causing some problem. So, often we recommend the user to delete all the files which are associated with OBD and go for a fresh installation to avoid any issue causing due to any previous files. The fresh reinstallation can be done using the steps below,
The required steps for fresh installation are mentioned below,
Step-1
For OBD when we try to uninstall it this dialog will come. From there for each Dataset click on the dropdown and select ‘Uninstall Existing’. After doing so click on Next. Wait for the uninstallation.
Step-2
Go to this path and delete all the files in it,
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition
Under AppData folder follow this path,
AppData>Local>Bentley>OpenBuildingsDesigner
And delete everything (the pref folder) under it.
Step-3
After that try to install the software again. For the installation process at first, this window will come up. From that window click on the ‘Configuration’ option,

When the window will come to click on ‘Next’
Step-5
After clicking on next another window will come. You can see there will be two options,
Choose the option as per your current setup. Then click on ‘Next’.
Step-6
After that in the next window, you can tick the ‘Desktop Shortcut’ option if you want a shortcut for OpenBuildings Designer. Otherwise, just click on ‘Next’,
Step-7
On the next window tick the DataSets which are required for your project. Then again click on ‘Next’,
Step-8
In the next window click on the dropdown and choose the ‘Fresh Install’ option. And then click on Done. Wait till the installation comes to end.
After the installation tries to open any dgn file in OpenBuildings Designer.
