Problem Description:

How can I import a structural shapes catalog from another country or region in OpenBuildings Designer? 

Solution:

There are a number of regional MDB shape files included in OpenBuildings Designer, located in the C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\OpenBuildingsDesigner\Default\appl\Shapes folder. To add them to your active OpenBuildings Designer session, follow the below steps:

Step1: Search for Load Steel Section Libraries in the search ribbon or from the backstage choose Settings > Building > Load Steel Section Libraries.

Step 2. After the Structural Section File Manager opens, select the desired catalog on the left, click on the Add button, then click on Done. The Section catalog will be available for placement.

 

Step 3. Open the Shape Catalog from the Structural Elements tool group where you can see the newly added section database. Now delete all the current shape classes using the button marked as 1, then click on the button marked as 2 option to load all the shapes in the placement dialog.
