Problem: This is an issue that commonly happens when a new property is added in DataSet, WorkSpace or WorkSet level but at those levels, there are already some dgn with some preexisting elements. If for the existing member if anyone wants to add any new value for the new property OBD does not allow it at the very fast faze. In the schedule dialog also, these values cannot be added. For this issue, there is a solution. Solution:
In this case, Schema Upgrade Utilities helps to resolve this issue. The below steps are needed to be followed.
Step-1
Go to Schema Upgrade Utilities using the path (From OBD backdoor option),
File>Utilities>Data Utilities>Schema Upgrade Utilities
Step-2
Click on “Upgrade” on DataGroup Upgrade window
Step-3
Then value can be added in a new definition to the existing element if Modify Properties or Schedule any of these tools is used.
In this workflow, it will be recommended to read carefully the WARNING part of DataGroup Upgrade window. It is clearly mentioned there if any properties exist in the element but not in the schema that element will be deleted if the Upgrade button is clicked. To avoid this scenario, it is recommended to check the Definition Editor to know whether any Definition got deleted anyway before doing this upgradation.
