This article shows how to apply Lighting manager settings that could help us develop a better solar study
To perform an accurate solar study, we need to fix exact geographic parameters inside the OBD model. The visualization workflow of OBD would hold all the various settings. Under visualization, we should go to the Lighting tab, and then open the Light Manager as below:
As we are looking for a solar study, we should select the light source as Solar from the left of the Light Manager window.
Under Details, you might set the shadow type, cloudiness, air quality and other parameters according to your preference, these would help you simulate the model environment better.
Once this is done, we should go to Solar Position, and fix the date and time of the analysis. After this, select the preferred location, either from the list of available cities from the OBD database or select a geographic point from the Google earth.
We can also select the location through running a KML file, if available.
Once these set up, we can close the window, the same setting would be updated in the solar study section, and we would be able perform a solar path analysis on the selected location and environment, guidance could be found here.
