Select a specific Layout for all ProStructures members

      Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Area: ProStructures Interoperability
      Subarea: Layout

    Problem:

Given a huge number of ProStructures profiles and non-ProStructures elements, how can I select a suitable layout/representation of the structural steel element for existing profiles?

    Solution

If you select the element via "Select by Attributes", you can call the structural properties of the respective element and apply the desired layout.

    Required Steps:

    • Open any DGN file with a large number of existing ProStructures and Non-ProStructures elements.
    • Select one of the ProStructures elements and find the section name via the "Building Element info" tool.

    • Go to Select by Attributes.

    • Select the element according to the Section name under the Structural criteria option.

    • Search for this element and Apply. Only the ProStructures elements with this section name will be selected.

    • Now right-click on the element and choose Structural Properties from the pop-up menu, click on Layout in the left pane, and apply the desired Layout. When done, click on the green check mark button.

This allows you to select only ProStructures elements from all existing ProStructures and non-ProStructures elements to assign the desired Layout.
