Selecting elements outside the Solids Working Area

 Product(s):OpenBuildings Designer
 Version(s):CONNECT Edition
 Area:General
 Subarea:Solids Working Area

Background

The Solids Working Area (SWA) tools are used to manage the working area of Building elements within a safe range from a model's origin, thereby providing a consistent result in dynamic views. The tools aid in controlling the drawing elements within the designated working area when you are modeling outside the SWA.

Solution

Below is the workflow that will allow you to select the elements outside the Solids Working Area

1. By clicking the Toggle SWA icon under the View tab we can see the Solid working area represented as a 3D cube within the view window of the current model.

Note - Toggling ON draws a red or green bounding volume to visualize the SWA. Red indicates there are elements outside the SWA. Green indicates there are no elements outside the SWA.

Toggling OFF, hides the bounding volume.

 2. Click on the Select Outside Elements icon under the View tab which is used to select all elements outside the Solids Working Area.

Another option is to Show outside Elements (Incremental) which displays elements outside the Solids Working Area, one by one (each, fit to the view) when repeating the tool.
