Problem

How can I remove unwanted catalogs that have been created after importing RFA files?

Solution

The RFA import wizard helps us to import any RFA file as a catalog that allows it to be easily placed multiple times. At the beginning of the RFA import process, it will prompt you for where to save the catalogs - Organization level, WorkSpace or WorkSet. In this example I have selected the WorkSet level. After finishing there will be a summary of the import as shown below.

1) To remove one of the catalogs, navigate to the \Standards folder which is shown in the Finish window of RFA Import. In this example, you need to navigate to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Building_Examples\worksets\BuildingTemplate_UK\Standards, as Building Template UK was being used.

2) From the Standards folder, navigate to the DataGroupsCatalogs sub-folder and inside that there is a catalog *.xml file has been created with the name of the RFA file's name.

3) Open the *.xml file in a text editor such as Notepad ++ or Notepad and comment out the catalog item that you do not need to see. See the below image as an example:

4) Launch OpenBuildings Designer and check the catalogs notice - that the commented catalog is no longer visible.
