Problem

You might sometimes find it difficult to create a hole in a Compound Slab. This wiki article describes a step-by step procedure to do so.

Solution

First, place a Compound Slab of any shape from the Structural Elements section under the Structural tab in the ribbon bar:

Once you have created a slab, you can click on the small drop-down arrow beside the "Place Slab" option; this will offer you the Punch Hole option.

Once selected, you will prompted to pick target leaves and a cutting profile. The cutting profile is the shape which you wish to use for the opening, for example, a circle, or a rectangle, etc. on the upper surface level of the slab.  See below:

After selecting the Punch Hole tool it will ask you to select the placement method; you can select the hole profile and then the hole depth. You may wish to opt for "delete hole profile", otherwise the shape will remain after the hole is created.

After you select the target slab, select the cutting profile and the surface on which the cut will take place. Select the cutting profile and hit enter:

Next, you would see the slab being cut through with a circular profile as shown below:

There are other options available such as dynamic punching or punching through; however the process remain the same. In case of dynamic punch, you will have the opportunity to create a hole at any direction of the slab, barring the base of the geometry.
