How to add a custom stair tread profile using a PAZ file

Background:

Due to Architectural requirements, you may want to add a different nosing profile or customized stair treads. In OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition there is a feature that will help you to achieve this requirement.

Solution:

1. Place the PAZ file that you want to add as stair tread in this location: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Datasets\Your_DataSet\Frame\StairComponents\

2. Click on the Stair icon in the Architectural tab to open the Place Stair dialog box. From there, click on the drop-down shown in the image below and select ‘Load Stair Settings’:

3. From the pop-up window click on the Treads tab and select ‘Parametric Profile’ from the ‘Tread Type’ drop-down list:

4. Select the desired PAZ file from the list.

Then click on ‘OK’ and now you will be able to place stairs with your custom tread.
