How to Import an ISM file to OBD?

Problem Description: 

For importing pro structural sections and material from other software, importing through ISM file is a very good option. Using this method one can easily map the sectional property and material properties correctly in different software as per the requirement.

Steps to Resolve

Step -1:-

From the ‘Analysis’ ribbon click on ‘New From’

Step -2:-
Then when the ‘Import’ window pop-up follow the path below,
File>Open

Step -3:-
Then the ‘ISM Import’ window will pop up. From there choose the *.ism.dgn file that needs to be imported from the required folder location.

Step -4:-
Then you will again back to the ‘Import’ window. From there you need to choose which type of section you need to import and what will be ‘Instance’ data.

Step -5:-

Then the ‘Section Mapping’ and Material Mapping’ windows will pop up respectively. Choose the required ones from there and click on ‘Import’ for both windows.


Step -6:-
After that, the ISM file will be imported correctly into the DGN file.
