Background

When launching OpenBuildings Designer the ‘Element Selection’ dialog always appears. This is because the ‘Selection’ command is chosen as the ‘Default Tool’ in User Preferences. But this default setting can be changed using the steps below.

Steps to Accomplish 

1. Open a DGN file in OpenBuildings Designer. Then open the ‘Preferences’ dialog by choosing File>Settings>User>Preferences:



2. After the ‘Preferences [Personal.OpenBuildingsDesigner]’ dialog opens, choose ‘Look and Feel’ from the Category list.

3. Then from the right-hand side change the ‘Default Tool’ setting from ‘Selection’ to ‘None’:

4. Click OK.
