How to create a file package using the ‘Packager’ tool

Background

If you need to transfer a file to someone who is not part of the current project it can be difficult to gather and send all the required content associated with that DGN file and the project. Fortunately, there is a tool called Packager that can help.

Steps to Accomplish 

To use the Packager tool follow the steps below:

1. Open the desired DGN file in OpenBuildings Designer. Then open the ‘Packager’ tool by choosing File>Tools>Packager.
2. When the ‘Welcome’ window opens click on ‘Next’.
3. On the 'Package Name' page enter the Package's name and description, and click the 'Next' button.
4. On the ‘Design Options’ page tick all the desired options that are available. Click the 'Next' button.
5. On the ‘Gathering Design Data’ page click on the ‘Current Directory’ button to add the content used by the active DGN.  Click the 'Next' button.
6. On the ‘Select WorkSet Options’ page choose all the options that you need. Click the 'Next' button.
7. On the 'Review Selections' page review all the files that will be included in the package. Click the 'Next' button.
8. On the 'Package Options' page click on the Browse button to choose the location where you want to store the *.pzip file, along with its Compression Level and, if desired, Design History. Click the 'Next' button.
9. Finally click on the ‘Finish’ button on the last page to complete the process.
