In IFC how to add ‘Site’ properties instead of ‘Building’ properties?

Problem

For project purposes, the user often needs to see the Site properties in IFC. But when the file is exported to IFC in OBD then by default only the properties associated with the Building only show. Here is a way by which Site properties will be generated in IFC after exporting,

Solution

To solve this issue please follow the steps below,

1. Go to this path below,
File>Export>User>Exchange File Types>IFC
2. In the IFC Export dialog box click on the assign button under Spatial Structure.
3. There in the new dialog from the Site/Building column chose Site from the dropdown. And then click on ‘Save’ and ‘Close’ it.
4. After that Export the file to IFC.
5. When you open the file in IFC viewer you can see now Site properties are visible.
