Renaming the properties name while placing any mechanical components

      Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer
      Version(s): V8i
      Area: HVAC Design

    Problem Description

How to change the name of the Properties under Parameter section while placing any mechanical elements as shown in the screengrab below?

    Solution

Please refer to the steps below to achieve this.

    1. At first, open the Definition Editor and under Properties definition when you hover over to the Status definition it will give you the path to the XML file as shown in the screengrab below.

    1. After that go to this location: “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_US\datagroupsystem” as shown in the Definition Editor and open the “xml” file to rename the property as per our requirement (in this case Status was used).

    1. After renaming the property, remove the “Prefs” folder from this location: C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Local\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner and restart your Building Designer.
    2. Upon restarting you can finally see that while placing any mechanical element (in this case Duct was used) the Properties are renamed as per your requirement and in the Schedule, you can see that updated name will be reflected. Please refer to the screengrabs below.
