Punching a hole entirely thru a Compound Slab

Problem

Whenever I punch a hole in a Compound Slab in Update 10 it doesn’t go entirely thru the slab, even if it’s a single leaf/layer.

Solution

When punching a hole through a Compound Slab, the Base Region remains visible so that you can select it for manipulation purposes. This is why the Select Base Region icon becomes active in the ribbon bar when that remaining shape is selected.

In the images below notice that on the left the Base Region's flyover displays the name of the Compound Slab Assembly, while on the right the flyover for the 3D geometry (even for a single layer slab) displays the Leaf Name instead.

You can turn off the visibility of the Base Region by assigning a different Family + Part whose level can be turned off. In this example the Base Region's Family & Part has been reassigned to Circulation:Balusters, with the "Apply Part's Default Level" option enabled, and that part's assigned level "A-FLOR-HRAL" has been turned off using the Level Display dialog.

Note: You can also assign the Base Region to construction class using a custom VBA Macro as outlined in this wiki:  Hiding the base region in Compound Slabs using VBA
