Problem

For customization in some projects, the user is required to create a new Discipline to separate a whole set of elements so that the DataGroup data attached to it will be different for those.

Solution

To create a new Discipline, need to follow some simple steps,

1. Open the catalog editor and then right-click on the Catalog Items.
2. From the drop-down menu select ‘New Discipline Group’. Now give the discipline a new name.
3. Right on the newly created discipline and from the dropdown menu select New Catalog Type.
4. Then in the Catalog Type Definition give a new name, select the destination of it (Organization/Workspace/Workset), and create a new XML file for it. Now for discipline create the newly create Discipline and create a new XML for this. Now select the placing tool as the slab tool (just for our example).
5. Now click on the newly created catalog type and from the drop-down menu select the catalog item. And create a new catalog item. And at the very last click on ‘Save’.
6. Now from the ‘Place Slab’ window select the new catalog type. Now try to place the slab
7. Then it can be found the slab can be easily placed.
