How to create a section drawing with a specific height value

 Version(s):CONNECT Edition
 Area:Drawing Views
 Subarea:Clip Volume

Problem

I am not able to create a section drawing with a specific height. Instead I always see the whole model.

Solution

Below is a workflow that will allow you to create a section with a specific height, for example showing only one floor or a particular area of the design.

  1. Place a Section callout using the Drawing Seed "Arch – Building Section" with Height defined as “From View”. Remember the option “Create Drawing” should be checked.

  2. If you have multiple Buildings defined in your file, select the Building Definition to be associated with the Drawing.

  3. Notice the clip volume's edit handles display as an arrow by default, which means they are uncropped. You can crop a particular edit handle by right clicking on it and choosing the option "Toggle Cropping". The icons will change from arrow heads to circular heads.

  4. Create the section drawing associated with this Building (if you use this option) and go to the drawing model to see that only a part of a wall is visible. Its height is now defined by the location of the cropped edit handle.

  5. Go back to the Design Model and un-crop the edit handle to see that it will affect the visibility of the model in the section drawing.
