Missing Grid Lines in the Upper Floor Plans

Area:Grid Systems

Background

Grid Systems dialog requires you to select the Start and End Floor for which the Grid is assigned. The options available are based on the Floor and Reference Plane in the Floor Manager dialog.

We have identified a problem where Grids do not display in a Plan if the cut plane is above the topmost Floor or Reference Plane elevation plus the Floor-to-Floor height. Neither Refresh nor Rebuild Grid tool add the missing Grids.

Solution

Below are two options if Grid Lines are not automatically generated in the Drawing:

  1. Open the Floor Manager dialog and add a Floor or a Reference Plane higher than the Cut Plane elevation of Plans where the Grid is missing. Use a recognizable Reference Plane name to avoid confusion. As shown in the sample images below, we used 4000 Floor-to-Floor height which makes Elevation 16900, higher than the Cut Elevation in the View Range.

After adding the Reference Plane and change in Floor Manager is applied, go to Grid System Settings, and change the assigned End Floor to the one you have just created.

Grids should be automatically added to the affected Upper Plan Drawing once the cut plane is within the Floor Manager Planes.

  2. The second option is to manually add the Grid lines by using the Export Grids to Design option available in the Grid Systems dialog and attach the exported model as a reference to the drawing.

In the Drawing Model, go to References Dialog, choose the Attach Reference option,  change Attachment Method to Interactive and select the appropriate Grid Model. In the below image, “Building 1 – Roof Grid Systems” Model is selected and attached to the Drawing Model.
