Problem Description:
How to import IFC file?
Steps to Resolve
In OpenBuildings Designer we have two methods on how to import IFC file.
1) We can do that from backstage view by selecting
2) or we can use key-in “IFCIN”
The IFC File field in the Input tab imports the named IFC file entered in this field. The file name and full directory path is entered.
In the Settings tab we have 4 different options to choose:
- Use IFC Material Name As Part/Family Name — When IFC entities are imported, IFC material (rendering) names are used as part and family names when this setting is on. When the setting is off, the IFC entity part name is ifcentityname and the family name is IFC.
- Use Symbology from Part/Family Instead of IFC File — Overrides mapping of IFC properties when on.
- Override DataGroup Values from Setting File — Uses the DataGroup Mapping file to map IFC file properties to datagroup properties when on. Uses internal application mapping strategies when off.
- Ignore Story Containment — All IFC items are imported into the active DGN file when on. All items on each individual floor are imported into separate DGN files, one per floor, when off.
