Problem Description:

How to view the logs of exported IFC file?

Steps to Resolve

When you are exporting the IFC file, you are receiving a pop-up window and from there you can also navigate to IFC log file as well.

Apart from that, we have a built in IFC Log Viewer tool, which you can find in Backstage.

When you open the IFC Log Viewer, you will be prompted to select the correct log file.

When you select the correct file, you will be able to see more information about the errors, warnings, and notifications. The log file is in the same folder as the IFC file. The log file name is equal to the exported IFC file name, with an *.ifc.log extension added (remember that only files with the *ifc.log extension are viewed).

Once it’s opened, you haves several options to choose from. You can return to the Select Log File dialog using the Load button in the upper right corner or you can filter out the following messages by opening the Show All Messages drop-down menu. From the drop-down menu you can choose whether you want to see errors, warnings, or notifications or not. You can also hide similar messages to prevent duplicate messages from being displayed. When highlight related element is enabled, the element corresponding to the selected message will be displayed in the model and zoomed into in the active view.
