Problem Description

How can AECOsim Building Designer be silently installed without any prompts?

Please note that the steps below also apply to AECOsim Building Designer SS6 and see Enabling Silent Removal of Datasets - AECOsim Building Designer for additional functionality in SS6.

Reason

Be able to start the installation and not having to monitor it to answer any prompts.

Install AECOsim with Create Deployment image option. See images for detailed installation steps.
Click on AECOsim Setup file to start deployment installation:
Select the Create Deployment image option.
Click Create, Next
Select “Advanced Settings” button and “Silent mode installation”.
Click Next
Click Typical for normal installation.
Click Install.
Click Finish.
The results should yield a folder with the following deployment files in it:

Once the deployment files have been installed, open the command prompt and change the drive and folder to where your deployment files are located, including the aecosimbuildingdesigner.msi file.
Type in the following:
c:\bentleydownloads>msiexec /l*v c:\silent.log /qn /i aecosimbuildingdesigner.msi
Allow the program to install on its own. There will be no indication of its installation until you see a window flash and Windows Explorer open to the AECOsim shortcuts. Then you know the program was installed.
