Building Default Data

Hi there, I'm new to Hevacomp and have traced all the rooms of my building, onto a DXF floor plan and tried to changed the construction types on the room data defaults after. Only to find out that these changes to the default data only apply to traces that I do from that point onwards.

Is there a way to edit all previous construction types that have already been traced on?

Thanks,

Kieran

  • Hi Kieran

When a room or zone has been added to the project it is fixed to whatever was selected at the time. While the default option works great for setting up your options before hand, its cannot modify a zone once it has been added. There are two methods that you can use to modify construction types once they have been set.

The first is from within CAD Input. Select the Rooms menu then the Change surface option. From here, click inside the room you wish to change.

From the new dialog that appears you can pick the surface(s) you wish and change the construction type. Note that when you select a surface from the list, it will also be highlighted on the drawing page which makes it easy to see which surface you are modifying. Once you have made all the changes you wish to the surfaces, click the tick button to make the changes permanently.

The second option is to close CAD Input and run the Global program.

Within the program, select the rooms that you wish to modify and then click on the Walls option (or other option as required)

Then from the Walls page, choose the new type that you wish to use. To fix these changes permanently, ensure you click on the globe icon (highlighted above) - once the changes are made you can exit the Global program by clicking on the tick icon.

Note that you can use the Global program to modify pretty much anything in the project, but you should be careful to limit changes only to the rooms that you wish to change.

  • Thank you, Duncan.
You saved me hours with the global program option!
