This error is usually a product of a network handle crashing. As the software must be installed on your local hard drive, I can only assume that you are unzipping the file from a network location onto your hard drive?

Please try the following:

Download the zip file again directly into your C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\Hevacomp folder

Locate the zip file in the folder and unzip it directly into the folder. If prompted, choose to overwrite any existing files. The file must be unzipped directly into this folder.

Let me know how you get on

I can't see an attachment, could you let me know the error message?

Some of these files have .MAT extensions, which could be treated as MS access shortcuts, but they are in fact just normal data files. You should be able to unzip them straight into the data folder with no issue.

Duncan, we are getting another error when one of the files is copied across to fix the MAT problem (see attached)

It is a microsoft access table called GLASSLAY

Chris - Create the construction in Fabric, then go into the Mat program, enter your construction in there and once it calculates the U value, go back into fabric and change the U value for your construction so it matches the one from the Mat program.

Thanks Duncan i am going to give it a go once i get IT to install the patch to fix the MAT program. So to confirm you generate the floor in fabric then use MAT to set it as exposed to air?

Chris - The Ground Floor list in the Fabric program can contain ground floors in contact with the earth, or concrete floors that are exposed to air. The key to this being their U value figure.

If you wished to design a floor in contact with earth, you would use the UVAL program (in Mechanical Design) to calculate the U value.

If you wished to design a floor exposed to air, you use the MAT program (exposed floor) to calculate the U value.

Once the U value has been calculated for your floor, you should enter this figure into the Fabric program for your new construction.

Hi Duncan,

I not sure how to do this. do you mean set up a ground floor in fabric that would be the air gap under the podium or do you mean set up the ground floor then set up an air gap?

You should set up a 'Ground floor' in Fabric to represent your construction, and use this in your model. Note, however, that the Ground Floor part of the Fabric program doesn't calculate the U value for the surface, so you should use the Mat program to calculate the U value then edit your new Ground Floor to reflect this.

One further note - it has come to our attention that there is an issue with the Mat program in the current release that could generate an Run Time Error 53 or a Run Time Error 380 when constructing your surface. If this happens then please consult this document for a resolution.
