Hevacomp Zone definition

Question

Hi, 
 
 I want to check if there are implication on how zones are setup in hevacomp. 
 after the rooms are defined, they are put into zones 
 Should these zones be setup so that the each zone is only on one floor? 
 instead of have all offices in the building in zone 1 
 
 or is the orientation of the zone more important, so that say all south facing offices are in zone 1 
 all north facing offices are in zone 2

Hi, 
 The best way to zone your building largely depends on what results you require. The following excerpt from the manual may help to clarify: 
 Rooms can be placed in particular zones and floors so that zone and floor sub-totals can be selected and computed if required . 
 For example, if you need to find the heat gains for all your office rooms then it would indeed make sense to group these rooms into one zone, so they can be easily selected when running the CIBSE Gain calculation. 
 Please note that the zoning of a building becomes more critical if you are modelling HVAC Systems in Simulator, as the HVAC Systems must only be applied to the rooms that they serve.
